Recent
Last year John published a book chapter on Digital
Libraries and Web-Based Training. He gave a
presentation at Penn State on web technology for
agriculture and traveled twice to India to present
on similar topics. John is on the Editorial
Board for the International Journal
of Educational Technology.
Education & Experience - John has BA and MA degrees in philosophy and a Ph.D. in philosophy of education. He wrote his thesis on the epistemology of critical thinking instruction and his dissertation on the psychology of general education. He has served as a Visiting Professor in Agriculture and an Assistant Professor in Education. He founded the AIM lab in 1993. The lab was among the first in the world to focus on Web technologies for teaching and outreach.

John chaired the campus-wide Web Support Initiative under the direction of the
Provost's Office and the Educational Technology Board.
He served on the
Organizing Committee for Cyberfest.
John played a liaison role between ACES and NCSA for several
years and served on the Advisory Committees for
the Education and Outreach Division.
He served on the Building Committee for the
new
ACES Library.
While in the College of
Education as an Assistant Professor, John served on the College Technology
Committee and the Executive Committee of the Technology for Learning Program,
the Advisory Board of
the program in Mathematics,
Science and Technology Education. John co-authored a successful proposal to
develop an online masters degree in the
Department of Human Resource Education and a distance mentoring project with the Asian Institute of Technology
in Bangkok, Thailand.
