Native to Mexico and Central America. Plant transplants outdoors after all danger from frost has passed. Plant in full sun. Will do well in poor soil. Space the plants two feet apart. Mexican sunflowers will grow two to four feet tall and may need support. They should be planted in the back of the flower bed. They do well in hot weather. Mexican sunflowers make a good cut flower for arrangements.
